U.S. Unemployment Rate Drops to a Six-Year Low

U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by 288,000 jobs in June, and the national unemployment rate fell to a six-year low, according to the Labor Department. The job gains were spread across sectors, while there was little evidence of inflationary wage pressures.

Employment has grown by over 200,000 in the last five consecutive months. Services industries gained the most, with employment increasing by 236,000 jobs, Manufacturing payrolls expanded by 16,000, and construction jobs rose by 26,000.
