Labor Force Grows in New Mexico

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, New Mexico’s labor force (the number of people looking for employment) increased from 936,100 in May to 946,600 in June, raising the unemployment rate from 6.4% to 7.6%, just below the national level of 7.8%.

Although New Mexico lost 2,000 jobs during June, Albuquerque gained 700 jobs and Santa Fe gained 800. As of the end of June, the state added 7,200 jobs year-over-year, translating to a growth rate of 0.9%.
