hamilton-zanze June 06, 2013

The Business Conditions Index, which ranges between 0 and 100, climbed to 61.0 in May from 58.3 in April for Colorado. An index of 50 is considered growth neutral. May’s reading is the highest level since May 2011 and is attributed to the following economic factors:

  • Employment: climbed to 57.1 from April’s 56.2
  • Wholesale Prices (cost of raw materials): sank to 59.5 from 65.7
  • Business Confidence (economic optimism): climbed to 61.0 from 58.2
  • Inventories: rose to 65.6 from 60.6
  • Trade: exports rose to 57.3 from 52.1; imports dipped to 56.2 from 57.9
