Apple Opening Its Second-Largest Campus in Austin

hamilton-zanze September 10, 2015

Apple will complete construction on a 1.1 million square-foot campus in 2016, adding to its existing Austin workforce of over 5,000 employees. The company will receive $35 million in tax incentives from the city to build the new campus, which will house the company’s business operations for the Western Hemisphere.

Apple agreed to create over 3,600 new full-time jobs in Austin while retaining at least 3,000 full-time jobs under the terms of its 2012 incentive package and says it is well ahead of hiring projections. Should Apple meet hiring obligations, the company will be the second-largest technology employer in Central Texas, second to Dell, Inc. (14,000 Austin workers).

The company agreed to spend $282 million on new buildings and equipment in Austin over the next 10 years. When completed, the campus will employ thousands of workers at an initial average salary of $54,000.
