Portland Rents Jump 7.1%

The average monthly rent in Portland rose 7.1% last year, according to Zillow’s December report. Nationally, rents rose 4.9%.

Portlanders paid an average of $46 more in rent in 2014, the eighth highest increase among the 25 biggest metros. Although apartment construction is on the rise in the metro, similar rent increases are expected in 2015. Denver, Austin, Seattle, Houston, and Portland all saw significant rent growth as well, with 10.8%, 9.5%, 8.6%, and 7.2% increases.
